uac FOODS , a Business Unit of uac of Nigeria PLC, has re-launched its flagship snack, Gala Sausage Roll, with a resolve to consolidate it market leadership.
The re-launched Gala packaging communication is in English and French - a testimony of the brand's international appeal; a ‘Bullhead Motif' depicting that Gala is a “beef sausage roll' unlike competing brands; a more dominant red colour that makes the brand trendier with increased shelf appeal and a red band which communicates the brand as ever strong and courageous, standing the test of time!
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, which was held at the Planet One in Lagos, Mr. Larry Ettah, Group Managing Director/CEO of uac of Nigeria PLC, said of Gala's impressive feats over the years: “For Gala to remain an undisputed leader and also maintain a commanding presence in the market for almost half a century, speaks not only to the brand heritage but also to the brand's continuous fulfillment of its promises to the consumers. Gala Sausage Roll, true to the character of our great Company, uac of Nigeria PLC, has a rich dose of eventful history and worthy acclaim to hold aloft. Like uac 's rich and colourful history, Gala has emerged over the years as a Legacy brand – and the history of the brand bear true testimony to these feats.”
Mr Ettah proudly recalls Gala's recent landmark strides including the brand's attainment of a ‘Mega Brand' status in December 2007. He added: “In the same month, Gala added another feather to its cap as its factory in uac FOODS was awarded the ISO 22000: 2005 certificate by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) on behalf of the International Standards Organization (ISO) attesting to the safety and appropriateness of the process that delivers this outstanding brand.”
The uac Chief Executive pointed out that Gala is being re-launched today with the same exciting taste, pure beef filling, crispy pastry and seasoning which have arrested the taste buds of millions of Nigerians for over four decades. He said: “Gala Sausage Roll is being re-introduced today with a more attractive and trendier pack which adds to the excitement around the brand. With this launch, comes another bold initiative from our flagship snack – Gala – which is prepared to go international. For a Company that has continued to operate by international standards, it is only fitting that it should not fight shy of playing in the international arena!”
Also speaking at the occasion, the Divisional Managing Director of uac FOODS, Mr Chris Adedipe explained that since trends evolve from the dynamics of human actions, therefore, “Brands that are alive to their responsibilities recognize that trend means flowing with the tide in human development in order to get the best results.”
Mr Adedipe further submitted: “It should be noted that having a brand around for so long can lead to either the brand being taken for granted by the consumers or the consumers being taken for granted by the brand custodians. Consequently, the business decided to create fun and excitement around the brand by developing a trendier packaging and celebrating these developments on a large scale and communicating these features to the target consumers.”
